Dr Dorothy Moyo is the Deputy Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission and Chairperson of the Child Rights Thematic Working Group. She is a holder of a PhD in Public Administration: Peacebuilding, from the Durban University of Technology (International Centre Of Nonviolence). Her PhD research topic was " Educating secondary school learners on non-violence using a transformative approach to reducing school violence at a secondary school in Zimbabwe.” In addition, she holds an MSc in Peace, Leadership and Conflict Resolution from the Zimbabwe Open University and a BSc Sociology degree from the University of Zimbabwe.
Commissioner Moyo was a Trustee and one of the Lead Facilitators at the Alternatives to Violence Project Zimbabwe (AVPZ), where she facilitated peace building workshops for community members, schools, universities and vulnerable groups. She continues to facilitate peace-building workshops, including working with some schools in Zimbabwe to build peace and reduce violence at school.
Commissioner Moyo worked in various managerial positions in human resources at the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) from 1982 to 2013, ultimately holding the position of Industrial Relations Manager responsible for industrial peace and harmony in the Railway industry. During her tenure at NRZ, she was Deputy/Vice Chairperson of the Railway Employment Council (NEC). She was also Board member at the Railway Medical Aid Society (Railmed) where she was Chairperson of the Human Resources Committee.
